Chord progressions for piano?

Lately I've been playing from a piano book that has just the chords, and the melody.
So, obviously, I've been playing the chords with my left hand, and the melody, with my right.
They sound fine and all, but I only know I couple rhythms or progressions for the left hand.
I've basically only been playing the chords solid, or doing an arpeggio. So the songs are a little boring.
What else can I try?

Invert the chords... Thats what ray ?manzarack? From the doors would do. For instance if you start with E minor the next progression should be A major with the E note on the bottom (E note than A and than C sharp) and than a B minor sus (which would be the E note on the bottom than a B and than a D) you keep hitting the same note with your left pinky the whole time which is the E. Thats how most of the doors songs were written.

C minor as tonic (i): i V iv VI - C minor, G major, F minor, Ab major;
C minor as supertonic (ii): ii V I - C minor, F major, Bb major;

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
